CHMSC Takes a Leap towards Excellence

Mountains of papers and documents piled up creeping in chambers of what-to-do list, structural plans and organizational schemes were implemented, clean-up activities bang the four nooks of CHMSC community. Those were the telling details of how CHMSC community perseveres to attain the sweet valley of success. CHMSC readies to take the leap towards betterment and excellence.

Here’s our opportunity to take a stand and make a move.

CHMSC Welcomes AACUP Accreditors

Brought with smiles and cheers of gratitude, CHMSC faculty and staff welcomed eleven vibrant and respected Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACUP) Accreditors from various universities and colleges in the Philippines during the welcome program held at the College Audio-visual Room on November 16. Nervous feelings and excitement veiled the confines of the Audio-Visual Room as the Accreditors crossed the threshold and find their places facing the CHMSC Administrators, faculty and staff. Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, AACUP Executive Director disclosed that accreditation is making an objective evaluation during his message. He also added that Level three is a very high level.

CHMSC brought the best of their talents and performances as CHMSC Rondalla serenaded the accreditors with their inspiring performances. Chmsc Chorale put the accreditors at awe in their blending and medleys. Chmsc Dance Art showcased their grooves and moves on the floor. In addition to, selected students from the laboratory school rendered various song numbers that made the accreditors be in their cheerful faces.

ACCREDITOR SPEAKS

AACCUP Accreditors took step checking every corners of the college. Dr. Isabelita S. Bacud served as the Secondary Teacher Education Program Team Leader and Dr. Maria C. Martinez, Industrial Technology Team Leader.

Dr. Marife Daga, Elementary Education Program Team Leader speaks on her personal perspective that CHMSC is spacious and the materials are available. Dr. Daga also concluded that the students are disciplined and neat, thus she also quoted that the students should be more courteous. Regarding in the College operations, Dr. Daga noted that the college is doing well. In the other hand, the pathways need improvement.

CHMSC endeavours for Excellence, Competence and Educational Leadership in Science and Technology. For the past decades, the institution already produced outstanding graduates equipped with quality instruction and responsive approach to environmental and social development. Thus, CHMSC excelled in both academic and leadership field promoting inclusive development and became a part of the improving society. CHMSC trained and developed and will continue to produce responsible citizens.

On its realm of innovating people, CHMSC continues to strive for better purposes. The institution is making its way to promulgate in the next level the quality of instruction that is being accustomed to every student that would enrol in the curriculum. The CHMSC itself brings out the potential from every student providing relevant activities that embodies their skills and talents.

Carlos Hilado’s dream of motivating students to reach out for their dreams made CHMSC a foundation for that. The mission of the institution itself provides lucrative success and beneficial learning and outstanding moral-oriented knowledge. CHMSC is ready to be accredited. CHMSC aims to be the number one state college in Western Visayas.

TALISAY MAYOR EXTENDS BIG THANKS TO KOICA

CHMSC receives Automotive and Lecture room from KOICA

“Sincere gratefulness to KOICA for helping through CHMSC”, declared by Hon. Doc. Eric M. Saratan, Talisay City Mayor, as he extended his big thanks to the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) during the Turn-over and unveiling ceremony of the KOICA Automotive and lecture room earlier this month, November 4 at the CHMSC College gym.

Hon. Saratan added that the partnership of KOICA to CHMSC will help deserving students to learn a lot. He also said that the LGU of Talisay is privileged with the partnership and again emphasized his sincere appreciation to KOICA’s generosity on the last part of his message.

The College of Industrial Technology (CIT) together with the Administrative staff and students of CHMSC welcomed Mr. Kim Jin-oh, KOICA Philippines resident representative and the other guests including Hon. Gov. Freddie Maranon.

Meanwhile, during the program, Gov. Maranon also gave his message giving his gratitude to the Korean volunteers.

BSCE Fresh-Buds acquainted

“Acquaintance is a ticket to fortune”, quoted by the Chairman of the Engineering Department-Eng. Jun-Jun Marquez in his opening remarks as Civil engineering students gathered once again in their acquaintance party held at Sunburst Resort, Silay City on July 15.       

The event aims to build camaraderie between students and instructors and it also became a venue for the induction of new Association of Civil Engineering Students(ACES) and Phil. Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) officers.

Freshmen CE are acquainted and totally welcomed in the department after the coaster of fun and excitement the event offered.

CE students from different year levels enjoyed in the exiting games-the amazing race and tug-of-war.

On the other hand, howls and laughter resulted as the highlight of the program begun to roll. Eight contestants from first to fifth year vied for the title, Ms. Macho Gay 2011 where Nicco Javier of I-A reigned and crowned.

CHMSC STUDE CROSSES NEWSCASTING FINALS

SM Event centre became a crowded venue for the battle of the bests along Negros who got the voice, command and charisma-the 6^th ABS-CBN and UNO-R Province Wide News casting Competition on Sept. 4, 1:30 PM.

15 Universities and colleges made it to the finals where Joanna Aseral from CHMSC-T sat as contestant number seven.

CHMSC-Talisay sent three students namely Joanna Aseral, Nicole Abadiano, and Joefell Balagosa to participate in the said event on July 30, 2011 screening held at UNO-R Mass Communication studio.

August 6 became a hot post on Aseral’s part as she crossed the threshold and made it to the Grand Finals during the round for semi-finals.

It's a dream come true to a stude to be on the T.V screen.

CHMSC Celebrates “Araw ng Lahi”

College Gym is back to old beautiful Filipino picture as women wear their elegant Filipiniana and men wearing Barong Tagalog on the 19^th of August as CHMSC-Talisay celebrated “Araw ng Lahi”.

The event is in line with the celebration of the “Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa” with the theme, “Ang Filipino ay Wikang Panlahat, Ilaw at Lakas sa Tuwid na Landas”.

Part one of the event is the Parade of the Filipino costumes where Ginalyn Guillen of AB 1-A was hailed as the “Ba-e Maanyag” and Carlito B. Patos of BEED 4-B as the “Ginoo Maambong”. Different presentations depicting Filipino culture were also presented.

The day ended with the “Laro ng Lahi“ as the afternoon event.

The whole-month celebration of the “Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa” constitutes Resolution “Blg. 96-1, S.1996” that “Filipino” is being used in the whole country as a language of communication.

SIX TECHNOBRATS ATTEND PIA JOURN WORKSHOP

            To enhance and test journalistic skills of every young writer, the College sent six Technopacer new staff to the second batch of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Basic Journalism Seminar and Workshop held at the confines of Iloilo Grand Hotel, Iloilo City, August 8-10.

The College Pub’s new staff namely Rogein Nicole Abadiano, Joahna Aseral, Jessie Cris Bebit, Norelie Ann Canencia, Legion Lara, and Romela Christy Magturo were sent to attend in the said event and participate in different writing contests both in Filipino and English category. Meanwhile, Aseral and Magturo garnered Most Promising in Copy Reading-Filipino and Sports Writing-English respectively. 

The PIA under the Presidential Communications Operations Office spearheaded the workshop with the collaboration of Ms. Elsa Subong, Training-in-charge and Atty. Ma. Janet C. Mesa Ph.D, Regional Director.

Media practitioners in Western Visayas discussed various journalism topics such as the Development Communication (Dev. Com), the Basic Tools in Copy Reading, Newsletter, and Wall News as communication and info tool, photojournalism techniques and notes on Publication Design and Online Journalism sponsored by SMART.

SPEECH LAB, ON SET FOR USE

College launched its fully equipped Speech Laboratory ready to be accustomed starting this semester to promote good speaking exercise among CHMSCians.

The said laboratory exclusively occupied by thirty six computer units for speech and communication purposes which will be assisted by an English instructor that endeavors in the field of speaking.

STUDENTS’ RIGHT TO SUFFRAGE FIRES-UP CHMSC

Two parties vies for the allotted positions in the Supreme Student Government (SSG)

Blows from the Progress and shots from the Voice Party made the temperature rise during the Grand Rally held on July 6 at the College Gym and finally boost-up one party after knowing the win on July 8, SSG Election.

It became a hot siege between the two parties during the campaign period.

The election was done at the internet laboratories with the supervision of Engineer Josef Albert Monghe, ICT Director in Automated Election.

Meanwhile, Ernesto D. Matta Jr., BSED III, under the Progress Party won the presidency after garnering 1,148 votes and Roque G. Acse, BSED III and of the same party, was elected as the vice-president obtaining 1,240 votes released by the Committee on Selection and Screening (COMSELEC).

The reigning president’s plan is to unite the three colleges-the College of Education (COed), School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and College of Inustrial Technology (CIT) together with the elected senators: Edmar Villanueva, Rolyn Alfaro, Joseph Canete, Yuchalen Gantalao, Catherine Jarder, Krishiel Ann Montelibano, Charity Duremdez, Kenneth Geronca, Ivy Lozada, Darlene Grace Gemina, Danrisa Conclara and Manuel Bartolome, and the elected representatives: Ian Bancaya, Azela Ruth Gelico, and Eric Sapul.

Indeed, the election was made successful because the CHMSCians participated. Everybody hopes that the SSG under the new presidency could do a sort of change and aid the studentry.*Romela Christy Magturo
